Today we’ll talk about the ways your diet can affect your dental health and what you should do in this regard.

Generally, beverages and food you take might affect your dental health as they always pass through your mouth. Consuming processed and sugary food or drinking highly acidic drinks can lead to cavities as they eat away the enamel. For this reason, it is recommended that you consume a healthy diet that will help you maintain a healthy oral condition.

Taking healthy food means avoiding acidic, sticky, and sugary drinks and foods. Eating healthy food does not only help you maintain good dental health but also helps boost your overall health. Below we will discuss four ways in which your diet can affect your dental health.

Vitamin C

Consuming food that contains vitamin C helps you develop strong teeth, healthy soft mouth tissues, and gums. Additionally, vitamin C is essential in preventing teeth loss and gingivitis. To make sure that you consume enough vitamin C, be sure to eat:

· Cauliflower

· Leafy greens

· Broccoli

· Cantaloupe

· Kiwis

· Oranges

· Kale

Getting the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables each day will help you achieve your vitamin C goal and keep everything in your body working correctly.

Magnesium, Vitamin D, and Calcium

When these nutrients are insufficient, you can suffer from weak bone and teeth development in young children. Also, these nutrients help develop strong alveolar bone, which supports your teeth structure and quality teeth density. Making sure you include some dairy products in your diet will help you avoid any dental impact related to the deficiency of these nutrients. Additionally, consuming daily products such as milk and cheese enables you to prevent tooth decay and plaque buildup, usually your teeth enamel.

Protein

While eating protein-rich food helps to replicate your body cells, protein deficiency might impact tooth eruption and size, particularly for children. Additionally, inadequate protein could affect your salivary glands’ formation and function. This can result in tooth decay and dry mouth with time. Be sure to feed your children with sufficient protein to prevent them from lower jaw development deficiencies. Include a high-quality source of protein with every meal you consume.

Vitamin A and Vitamin B

Typically, vitamin A is essential in our bodies in many ways. That is because not only does it help you develop quality tooth enamel, but it also helps in cleft palate risk prevention. Additionally, taking food rich in vitamin A will help you maintain healthy gums. On the other hand, inadequate vitamin A usually leads to body cell growth and separation deficiency. The following foods are rich in vitamin A.

· Dark leafy vegetables

· Sweet potatoes

· Tuna

· Broccoli

· Carrots

· Cantaloupe

· Bell pepper

For vitamin B, it helps you prevent inflammation and prevent mouth sores. Usually, people who suffer from these issues might be suffering from vitamin B deficiency. If you have dental problems, be sure to contact or visit your dentist before the situation worsens.

Acidic Beverages

Acidic beverages are one of the foods that can end up harming your teeth. This includes drinks like mineral water, orange juice, red wine, and cola. Be mindful of these drinks and also acidic foods. Understand pH levels and what items are best to consume on only special occasions.

Foods can either harm or benefit your dental health. Just because something isn’t the best for the health of your teeth doesn’t mean you have to completely cut it out of your life though. It’s important to be aware of how certain foods can affect your health and make the best diet decisions based on that knowledge.
