Today we are here to discuss the top 7 things to do for your skin care with foods to eat and with products to apply. Let’s start!

Every day we face a barrage of skincare products, commercials, and articles telling us how to look our best. But the truth is, there are only so many hours in the day – and you can’t do everything every product tells you to do in an effort to protect your skin. So the question becomes what should you be doing to help your skin remain healthy and look its best? Here are five things that will help you look out for your skin.

4 Ways to be Proactive about Your Appearance

Drink Plenty of Fluids

One of the easiest ways to re-hydrate your skin is to drink plenty of water. While soda, tea, and coffee have a temporary effect – the caffeine in these beverages actually dehydrates you – it’s nothing compared to what you would get from just a simple glass of water.

Regularly drinking at least eight glasses a day will help keep your skin hydrated and looking refreshed. As everybody is different, the actual amount you may need could vary depending on certain factors such as height, weight, or various health factors, but eight glasses are the general blanket recommendation for everyone, especially if they’re drinking less than that from day-to-day.

Use Sunscreen Daily

The most common sign of damage to your skin from the sun is a sunburn. The UV rays the sun provides cause UV radiation to be absorbed by your skin. Your skin cells take damage from this, which can cause them to age, die, or develop skin cancer. Direct radiation from the sun accounts for most of the cases of dry skin today.

Dry skin eventually starts to look flaky, old, and unattractive. To keep your skin looking its best, it’s important to protect yourself from the sun in any way that you can. Even if it’s overcast or cold, you need to make sure that you’re wearing sunscreen when you go out. A dermatology test will help you know how strong of a sunscreen you should be using.

It’s tempting to skip the sunscreen in wintertime thanks to the probably cloudy sky and cold temperatures, but this is when you should be wearing it most. Most skincare experts recommend that you put on sunscreen ten minutes before going outside and then again just before leaving your home or office – that means putting it on at least twice a day!

Invest in sun protection in the form of sunscreen lotions and hydrating lotions with sun protection factors. Use this every time you step out of the house, and more so during the summer. Also, avoid regular tanning, as it exposes the skin to ultraviolet radiation which penetrates the outer skin layer and damages cells.

Watch Your Makeup Routine

Makeup has become a part of most women’s and some men’s daily routines due to its ability to enhance and transform one’s looks. However, when chosen poorly, makeup products can contribute to premature skin aging. Products that contain harsh ingredients can suffocate the skin, cause aging lines and wrinkles, and even cause breakouts.

As you shop for makeup, go for products with mild components that do not damage or clog the skin. Also, invest in quality skincare products such as face masks, toners, cleansers, and scrubs. You can even make some of these using natural ingredients in your home.

Skincare is not an easy task, but it pays off in the end. Contact a beauty salon for more tips on how to care for your specific skin type and protect it from premature aging.

Avoid Tobacco

Do you like to enjoy the occasional puff or two of tobacco? If so, it may be time to stop. Cigarette smoke is not suitable for your skin, brain, or body. Prolonged smoking depletes the body cells of oxygen and other nutrients that they need to remain healthy.

Additionally, cigarette smoke has been associated with health conditions such as lung and oral cancer. As the chemicals in the tobacco attack the body cells, your skin loses elasticity and becomes dry, flaky, and saggy. Quit smoking tobacco if you want to maintain healthy skin and avoid premature aging.

Eat Healthy Foods

You are what you eat – that’s an old cliché, but it’s still true. A diet of junk food and processed foods is bad for your body on more than one level – having beautiful skin is just one part of the equation. Taking the time to eat healthily will positively affect your skin, nails, hair, and even your mood.

Moisturize Your Skin

Humidity in the air varies depending on where you are – but humidity gets down to very low levels inside buildings and homes, even in wintertime. Make sure that you’re using a good moisturizer every day – after the shower is a great time, as your pores are open and soaking up all of that rich goodness.

Get Enough Sleep

Hitting the sack at a decent hour every night is very important if you have beautiful skin. Getting enough sleep will help refresh your skin, giving it a natural glow that you’ll notice every time you look in the mirror.

Getting healthy, beautiful, and young-looking skin doesn’t come easy nowadays. This is true especially since most people are caught up in demanding and hectic schedules that they don’t have the time to create and follow a skincare routine.

When you take care of your skin, it pays off. And when you make mistakes with how to protect and treat your skin properly, the results can be disastrous. Above are five things to avoid doing for a healthy complexion that looks good all year round.
